You have a pretty good list going, so far. I’m always happy to see people interested in the health of their pets. =) So, I just thought I’d let you know about two other pet food brands that are awesome. The first is “Timberwolf Organics” which is a little pricey, but my dog did exceptionally well on this food. Unfortunately I had to switch him since we moved and nobody around here sells it. They also make a cat food called “Serengeti”, which I never had an opportunity to try. The second brand is “Orijen”. It is a Canadian based company and is also pricey, but excellent. The only caution with this one, as with “Evo”, is that it may not be the best choice for a dog that is not extremely active, since it contains large amounts of protein, which can cause liver and kidney damage in your average house pet. But it is excellent for working dogs (ie herders) and pregnant or nursing bitches. Anyway, I hope that helps you out!

Sorry not to reply sooner, I had shoulder surgery last Friday!

Before we talk about supplements, what is age, his activity, and his basic diet like? Are you already feeding him a non-grain, non-preservatives, non-byproducts holistic food?

And what are you seeking to do with the supplements? Overcome joint and arthritic problems?

Can’t blame your NSAIDS-aversion. After this surgery, they are strictly forbidden! Turns out they interfere with the body’s natural healing! I’m making marvelous progress on fish oil as an anti-inflammatory and on a particular acai-based health drink.

Speaking of which, for your chow, what about fish oil in addition to the Cosequin? I think every human and every pet should be on fish oil!

I really need to give my chow a better supplement. What do you recommend? He’s on Cosequin, but I think he needs something more. I hear Nuvet alot, but I am not one to follow the herd and not sure if this is just hyped up do nothing dog vitamins. Any suggestions for a good daily supplement? to help with general health and aging joints? I am AVERSE to NSAIDs after reading horror stories.
